Project ReFocus and Shaw University Hire Pixallus For Their Initiative To Advance Health Disparities Science

Project ReFocus partnered with Shaw University to support their real-time crisis monitoring system and educational resource hub for public health practitioners in Wake and surrounding counties. Pixallus will join the Community Advisory Board (CAB) to design and develop a web application to collect data from online surveys, develop an online community hub for reporting crises, sharing stories and resources, and provide analytics to fellow CAB members.

Project ReFocus is co-led by Howard University Department of Communication, Culture and Media Studies and UCLA Center for the Study of Racism, Social Justice and Health. Funding for this project was provided by the CDC Foundation.

The CAB consists of several local organizations including Shaw University Department of Social Work, Sociology and Justice Studies, Live Well Wake, Village of C.A.R.E, and many others.

We’re honored to be invited join this community led effort to monitor the social stigma, support disproportionately affected populations, and improve health disparities during crises.
